9. PASLEY RETREAT
This boat-access-only property was, for years, the site of a simple 1950s cabin. The structure saw a number of renovations and additions over the years, and we consider our design the newest iteration of the cabin. The common space maintains the original footprint and section, while increasing its usability with the addition an expanded bedroom wing, connected by way of a glazed entry link. The board-form concrete fireplace anchors the building, while the expansive glazing allows the cabin to open up both visually and physically to its stunning waterfront setting. The old cabin is not only reflected in the form of the building, but also in its materials, through the use of reclaimed boards as the new siding.
